What Shooting Supplies Are Necessary for a Successful Day on the Range?

Spending a day on a shooting range is a great way to get outside, have some fun, and practice your marksmanship skills. If you’ve never done it before, though, it can be difficult to know exactly what to bring. Here are the four critical supplies you need to bring for a successful day on the range.

Hearing Protection

One of the most important things to bring to any shooting range is some form of hearing protection. Listening to gunfire all day can severely damage your hearing, so it’s crucial to protect your ears. Ideally, over-the-ear hearing protection is the best choice. However, even a good pair of earplugs will provide you with some protection against damage to your hearing. Make sure that whatever you bring is comfortable enough for you to wear all day.

Ammunition

Of course, you can’t have a good day at the range without plenty of ammunition for the gun or guns you’re bringing with you. These days, it’s a good idea to stock up on common rounds so that you have enough ammunition to take to the range. If you have a 9mm pistol, for instance, buying 9mm ammunition in bulk when you can find it will ensure that you have plenty on hand when you’re ready to head out for a day on the range.

Targets

Whenever you go to the range, it’s a good idea to bring plenty of extra paper targets. Over the course of a day, targets can get torn up, making it hard to tell where your shots landed. Bringing enough targets to put up a fresh one regularly is essential if you’re serious about practicing and improving your marksmanship.

Speed Loaders

A simple way to increase the amount of time you spend actually firing your guns is to bring along a speed loader for each caliber of weapon you’ll be shooting. Speed loaders make it much easier to load your magazines. While it’s not much trouble to load up a magazine by hand once, doing it over and over again can get tedious. With a speed loader, you’ll be able to cut down on labor and do more actual shooting.

By bringing these four essential supplies to the range, you’ll be able to set yourself up for a great day of shooting. With a little preparation, you can enjoy a day out at the range without having to worry about coming up short on the things you need.
