How to go About Installing A PCB In Your Desktop

Installing a circuit board into your desktop can be a little daunting when you first think about doing it. After all, you’re dealing with electricity, and electricity doesn’t tend to play nice. However, installing a circuit board is relatively easy as long as you are patient and pay attention. Read on below to see the steps you must do to go about this process.

Procedure

  1. Start the Installation Manager from the Start menu.
  2. On the Welcome page, click for more on Server Products to learn more. Use the graphical tool called “Scheme Designer.” This program will let you draw circuit boards on your desktop.
  3. Then select Install PCB Services on this machine from the drop-down menu and press Next.
  4. Follow the on-screen directions to resolve any system warnings, then click Next.
  5. Accept the default options for PCB Services on the Summary page, or click Change to specify custom parameters for the following: PCB Services (optional).
  6. Location of the installation.
  7. Folder containing database information.
  8. The revisions file folder is located in the Documents folder.
  9. Specify the port number.
  10. PCB Services is comprised of Microsoft Internet Information Services and a database that contains information that is used to keep the work of the electrical and mechanical designers in sync with one another.
  11. Accept the License Agreement terms and click on the Install Now button to begin the installation.

Post Installation Upgrades

When you upgrade PCB Services to 2020, the SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager upgrades the Firebird database and automatically migrates your information. Before doing an upgrade, you should make a backup of the database.

PCB Services should be upgraded as follows:

  1. Start the Installation Manager from the Start menu.
  2. On the Welcome page, click on Server Products to learn more.
  3. Upgrade PCB Services on this machine is selected, and then the Next button is pressed.
  4. When you access PCB Services, you will see the following message: PCB Services requires that your Firebird database be upgraded. Continuing will result in an upgrade of your Firebird software and your database.
  5. Select Next from the drop-down menu.
  6. The default options on the Summary page can be accepted, or you can change them by clicking the Change button.
  7. Accept the License Agreement terms and click on the Install Now button to begin the installation.

Conclusion

Installing a PCB into your desktop can seem like a daunting task, but if you take it step by step, it’s pretty simple. Just follow the instructions above, and everything should be smooth sailing.
